A Second Career
Built in the Sky.
A few years ago, my wife and I were on a road trip through southern Utah when we started asking each other the big questions: What really makes us happy? What's next? She had just finished nursing school and found her calling. I started researching new career options and kept coming back to one unexpected but persistent idea: maybe my dream role was in aviation.
After a discovery flight, I was hooked. I'm now an independent flight instructor within my flying club, with access to a diverse fleet of aircraft that gives my students the flexibility to train in the right plane for their goals and budget. Along the way, I've been fortunate to share my journey on the Ready for Pushback podcast and connect with others who've also made aviation their second career.
Before aviation, I spent over a decade in leadership roles across hospitality, luxury travel, and real estate. From managing a ski-in distillery at the base of a mountain to launching a restaurant in Japan, I've always found purpose in high standards, calm under pressure, and making people feel welcome. That mindset carries over into every flight I take and every lesson I give.
It took some trial and error to get here, but I'm confident that I am right where I'm supposed to be.
